New AO Mixtape Released

We are excited to release our first mixtape, “The Shit,” as an exclusive download through our friends at Potholes In My Blog. Produced by Danya and the Fail – better known as Danya, Prashant and Steve from AO – the mixtape also features members of AO and the extended AO family.

So head over to Potholes In My Blog and download what they say is “filled with 16 tracks of that dope hip-hop we have come to expect from Animate Objects.”

Big Winter Tour Announced!

We are proud to announce that we will be performing at 25 U.S. Army bases between Jan 29 and March 22, including Europe. The tour, which is part of the U.S. Army’s I. A.M. STRONG campaign to prevent sexual assault, will feature AO, singer Leigh Jones and comedian/MCs Jessi Campbell and Drew Thomas. At each tour stop, AO will present a set of their own material and will then perform as Leigh Jones’ backing band. Check out all the tour dates here.

I. A.M. STRONG is the Army’s campaign to combat sexual assaults by engaging all Soldiers in preventing sexual assaults before they occur. More information about this program, which Animate Objects is proud to support, is available here.

This is not the first time that we’ve performed for US military personnel. In October 2007, we visited Guantanamo Bay, Honduras and Jacksonville, FL as part of an Armed Forces Entertainment tour. That trip lead to a feature article in the Dec 1, 2007 issue of Billboard Magazine and a great recap article in AFE’s Cadence Magazine.

Chicago Show Announced

We’re excited to announce a special night of amazing local music. On Saturday, January 16, we’ll be joining our friends Automata and Sidewalk Chalk, as well as The InnerVisionists and Room 11, at Bottom Lounge in Chicago.

Tickets are only $7 in advance ($10 day of show), which is a small price for 5 great bands. Get ’em here.

Doors open at 8pm and Room 11 kicks off the night promptly at 8:30. We hope to see you all there!

Our friends over at Potholes In My Blog will be releasing their first mixtape this week, and it will feature an exclusive, never-before-released track from AO.

“Look to the Sun (PV Wonder’s ‘Just Smile’ Remix) feat. Charles Hammond Jr.” is a remix of the track with the same name from our latest EP, “Dubs, Grunts & Things.”

Aside from being easier to navigate, the site offers some new features to check out: a new Ning community, in which you can discuss all things AO and interact with the band, PV’s Blog, where you can read Prashant’s musings on everything from food to music to life on the road, and new photo galleries, so you can follow the ever-changing appearance of your favorite band members.
